Zuckerberg Criticizes Apple for Restricting Apps From Using NFTs

In an interview during DealBookSummit, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg criticized Apple for restricting cryptocurrency and NFT markets.

Zuckerberg said, “I do think Apple has sort of singled themselves out as the only company that is trying to control unilaterally what apps get on a device and I don't think that's a sustainable or good place to be.”

What Happened?

In October, Apple announced that it had updated the App Store policy by restricting apps from using NFTs. Apple’s decision meant that users were severely prohibited from doing anything other than using market apps such as OpenSea and Magic Eden to view NFTs.

On the other hand, it was revealed that Reality Labs, the Metaverse department of Meta, had a loss of $3.7b when the third quarter financial reports were released. Zuckerberg said that he still is hopeful for the company’s Metaverse plans.
