Pick-n-Pay now accepts Bitcoin

Pick n Pay, one of the Republic of South Africa's largest supermarket chains, has begun accepting payments in Bitcoin at all of its 1,628 branches after a three-month pilot testing phase across 39 locations. Customers will need a Bitcoin Lightning Wallet and CryptoConvert's CryptoQR browser app connected to the Bitcoin Lightning Wallet to pay with BTC.

The payment process requires users to scan a product's QR code through the CryptoQR app and then switch to the Lightning Wallet to confirm the rate and complete the transaction, Cointelegraph reported.
Pick n Pay has nearly 2,000 branches in the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia and Mauritius.
