Deutsche WertpapierService Bank to launch Bitcoin trading service

Deutsche WertpapierService Bank (dwpbank) will launch a new platform called wpNex to allow retail customers to trade Bitcoin.

With the newly announced wpNex platform, Germany could have a key role in the crypto ecosystem. Dwpbank, which provides securities processing services to approximately 1,200 banks in Germany, has also announced that other digital assets, such as tokenized securities, may soon be available.

Some crypto experts think that this development could put pressure on other banks and financial institutions in Germany to meet the ever-increasing demand for easy access to crypto investment.

Last month, Germany's second-largest bank, DZ Bank, announced that it would start offering digital asset custody services in cooperation with Swiss crypto infrastructure firm Metaco. DZ Bank announced that it has chosen Metaco's custody platform Harmonized to offer digital asset services to its corporate customers.
