METU presented Turkey's first NFT certificates in education, which are personalized on Blockchain, to the top students at a ceremony.
METU Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök told AA correspondent that NFTs are one of the opportunities offered by Blockchain technology and that degree certificates or graduation diplomas will not be lost for life.
Emphasizing that blockchain technology provides open and clear information to everyone since it has a decentralized structure, Kök said, "Especially diplomas can be queried through e-Government for the moment. However, there is not yet a standard for questioning the accuracy of these diplomas internationally. Therefore, suspicious diplomas and valuable documents are still tried to be verified by methods such as e-mail and telephone, and various difficulties arise, especially language problems. In this context, as METU, we closely follow the innovations on Blockchain technologies, which we think can provide a solution to these difficulties."
