U.S. House Declares July "Crypto Week"

The U.S. House of Representatives has officially declared the week of July 14, 2025, as "Crypto Week," planning to debate crucial cryptocurrency regulations.

Led by House Speaker Mike Johnson, the week will feature discussions on significant crypto bills, including the GENIUS Act for stablecoins and the CLARITY Act aimed at clarifying crypto market structures. The previously Senate-approved GENIUS Act, mandating stablecoins to be fully backed by liquid assets and imposing annual audits for large issuers, is particularly anticipated.

Additionally, the CLARITY Act intends to define regulatory jurisdictions between the SEC and CFTC clearly, aiming to remove regulatory ambiguities in crypto markets. Criticism from Democrats has largely focused on allegations regarding former President Donald Trump’s substantial profits from certain crypto projects.

Lastly, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act seeks to prevent the Federal Reserve from directly issuing digital currencies to individuals, aiming to protect citizens' financial privacy. Majority Whip Tom Emmer highlighted these moves as essential to positioning the U.S. as a global crypto hub.
