U.S. Treasury Bonds Now on the Blockchain: VanEck and Securitize Launch Innovative Fund

VanEck and Securitize have unveiled VBILL, a tokenized fund that allows investors to access U.S. Treasury bonds through blockchain technology.

Launched under the name VanEck Treasury Fund Ltd., the fund aims to enhance cash management by offering greater liquidity and transparency. It will operate across multiple blockchains, including Avalanche, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Solana, with cross-chain functionality supported by the Wormhole protocol.

Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo emphasized that VBILL demonstrates how blockchain’s speed, transparency, and programmability can unlock new market opportunities. The fund requires a minimum investment of $1 million on Ethereum and $100,000 on other chains. As a leader in asset tokenization, Securitize currently manages $3.9 billion worth of tokenized securities and collaborates with major institutions like BlackRock and KKR. With this initiative, the total value of real-world assets represented on blockchain has now reached approximately $23 billion.
