Ukraine Prepares Legislation to Establish Strategic Bitcoin Reserve

The Ukrainian government has announced plans to create a national strategic Bitcoin (BTC) reserve, with a draft law currently in its final stages.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, stated that the proposal will soon be submitted to parliament. Zhelezniak had previously hinted at a similar initiative in February but had not shared any details until now.

This move is expected to bring greater regulatory clarity to Ukraine’s evolving crypto landscape. Although a previous virtual assets bill was withdrawn at the request of the Presidential Office, legislative efforts are ongoing, and the new initiative could accelerate the process. Establishing a state-level Bitcoin reserve may also serve as a model for other nations considering similar strategies.
