What Is Gala?

Gala is a blockchain-based gaming and NFT platform that runs on both Ethereum and BSC networks. GALA is the native token of the Gala Games ecosystem that can be used to earn node rewards and in-game rewards, play games, and trade items and NFT in the Gala store. Gala supports blockchain-based games and in-game NFT trading. The platform is powered by nodes called “Founder's Nodes” that protect the Gala ecosystem. Gala is among the immensely popular play-to-earn ecosystems. The games in the gala ecosystem are free-to-play, and players can access them through decentralized applications (DApps).

What Is Gala Games?

Gala Games is a blockchain-based games and NFT ecosystem founded in 2020 by Eric Schiermeyer. In this system, participants can generate or earn tokens by playing play-to-earn games.

What Does Gala Offer?

The Gala ecosystem produces web-based games that can run on PC and Mac, incorporating entertainment, ownership, and interactivity. Gala allows you to create blockchain-based games and create and trade NFTs within games. The most remarkable feature of Gala Games is that it offers users control and ownership while at the same time giving them rewards. A player can collect in-game bonus items or Gala Tokens. The player can then trade their collection or transfer it to another game within the network. Players can earn rewards in games or by sharing links with other players or potential node owners. Game developers can collaborate with Gala Games to publish their games on the platform.

Gala Games encourages players to have a say in its roadmap. It engages players in the system through distributed voting mechanisms that allow decisions to be made on which games to develop and fund. This is done through the Founder’s Nodes voting mechanism. For example, users can vote to have X game included in the Gala ecosystem. If the votes are overwhelmingly negative, the game will be rejected. Eight games have been listed on the platform so far. These games are Fortified, Town Star, Spider Tanks, Echoes of Empire, Last Expedition, Legacy, Mirandus, and The Walking Dead: Empires.

Some of the games on the platform are as follows:

The Walking Dead: Empires: It is a multiplayer survival game in which you team up with allies and fight against enemies. The game is currently in development.

Town Star: In Town Star, players build and develop cities to earn NFTs. The main goal of the game, which is currently in the Beta phase, is to have a developed and productive city. Built on top of the GALA Blockchain, Town Star is similar to Zynga’s FarmVille.

Mirandus: This is an epic fantasy RPG set in a massive world ruled by five player-monarchs. In Mirandus, you can create your own avatar, fight monsters, and build a world that stretches from small farms to big cities to earn income. You can construct buildings on your land or someone else's land. The game is currently in development.

Spider Tanks: Spider Tanks is a PVP brawler developed by GAMEDIA, the award-winning game studio based in Netherlands. Players can choose between a variety of Tank Bodies and Weapons then combat in one of the Spider Tanks arena maps. Spider Tanks is a free-to-play game, it features various play-to-earn mechanics centering around competition, resource collection, and player-driven upgrade cycle.

Echoes of Empire: It is a sci-fi strategy game with combat mechanics. Players can build, upgrade, and own fleets to gain control over the galaxy in Echoes of Empire, one of the most popular games offered by Gala. Given its themes, the game is similar to Star Atlas.

Gala’s Technology

GALA runs on the Ethereum (ETH) and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) blockchains. The gala network is protected by its own set of nodes called “Founder’s Nodes”. There will only ever be 50,000 Founder’s Nodes that ensure in-game transactions and the security of the network.

Users decide which games will be published on the Gala Games platform by casting votes and this voting process is carried out by the node system. You can create an account on your computer and run a node and earn rewards according to the scoring system. 1 point can be earned by running a node in a cycle for at least six hours.

The Gala ecosystem is powered by Founder’s Nodes. Founder’s Nodes work with the Triple-Proof Node System, which includes Proof of Work (PoW), Proof of Stake (PoS), and Proof of Storage.

Proof of Work (PoW): There are 50,000 Founder’s Nodes, which are tier-1 nodes built on NFTs. These are the leading supporters of the network, and they will receive NFTs from all games subsequently introduced into the ecosystem and GALA Tokens allocated to node licensees.

Proof of Stake (PoS): These are paid nodes that work for some games through the rental structure of smart contracts.

Proof of Storage: These are free nodes that will allow games to be hosted in the node ecosystem and eliminate the dependency on centralized hosting solutions such as Amazon S3.

Gala Games makes decentralized network arrangements and provides maintenance services. It works on game studio integration, node software updates, development and marketing.

The key components of the Gala Games node ecosystem are:

Game Studios: Gala Games allows game studios that have been approved by a majority vote by Founder’s Nodes to integrate into the Gala Games platform. Game studios approved at this stage can issue NFTs using Gala Games protocols and toolkits.

Management-Based Random Distribution Algorithm: This ecosystem component is responsible for distributing NFT rewards to the node network. This part of the ecosystem is largely in development and more information will be provided soon.

Easily Accessible Public Database: The Gala Games ecosystem strives to grow a decentralized ecosystem. Its goal is to create a publicly accessible database with easy-to-access endpoints.

Treasure Chest: Treasure Chests, which are currently used in the app.gala.games account, is where the GALA and NFT rewards are collected. Treasure Chest makes it easy for users to control their own GALA Tokens and NFTs, allowing the system to remain robust and decentralized.

The Gala Team & Company

Eric Schiermeyer, creator of the project and founder of Gala Games, is also the co-founder of Zynga. He is also an investor and project developer of many popular games such as Mafia Wars, Poker, and Farmville.

Gala’s Digital Asset Economy

There was never a pre-sale or private sale as Gala believed it was right for the community to decide on token prices. In other words, a Gala ICO never took place. The maximum GALA supply is unknown and there is currently a total of 6,977,205,436 GALA in circulation.

A total of 17,23,286 GALA is distributed within the GALA ecosystem each day, half to Founder’s Node operators and half to the Gala Games Conservatorship. GALA distribution will be halved on July 21 each year. For example, as of July 21, 2022, 8,561,643 GALA will be distributed daily instead of 17,123,286 GALA.

Gala Collaborations

Gala Games has established partnerships with platforms such as Flare, Mazer Gaming, Bitrue, Polygon, and Brave.

Evaluation of GALA

With 1.3 million monthly active users, Gala has sold a total of 26,000 NFTs , and the most expensive NFT sold is worth $3M. GALA is a project that is listed and developing on many cryptocurrency platforms, including large-scale platforms.
